Pre-Bath Bedroom Prep: Make your bed comfortable, with a soft mattress, clean sheets and cozy pillows. Dim the lights and let your bedroom ‘bathe’ in the healing fragrance of an aromatic candle. (Psst: ginger enjoys a centuries-young reputation as an aphrodisiac, too!)
Bath essentials: You need fresh ginger root, a bath oil of your choice, a body lotion, body mist or lavender water, a large, crisp towel, your favorite music, a glass of chilled wine or fruit juice, a fluffy bath robe, snug bath slippers and comfortable nightclothes.
The bath: Take a few slices of ginger and let them simmer in boiling water for about 15 minutes. Tuck your hair into a bath cap. While the tub fills up, cleanse your face and neck using a homemade fruit pack or a natural, organic one from a health store. Pour the ginger, and the water it was boiled in, into the bath tub. Test the temperature for comfort.
Step in, lie back, and stretch every limb until a delectable languor settles in. With the music on and the wine or fruit juice trailing seductively down your throat, the world and its problems will slowly recede from your mind.
Afterwards, pat your skin dry with your towel, spray the body mist or lavender water all over your body and gently massage the body lotion into your arms, legs, feet, shoulders – everywhere you can reach.
Now snuggle into the comfort of your bed, snug as a bug…
Tip: You can also add two cups of ginger tea to your bath.
