Cinnamon is an ancient spice that was used extensively in trades. Sticks last longer <up to a year> but powder has a stronger scent. It loses flavor fast so it is best to buy in smaller quantities and store in a tightly sealed container. Not only is it pleasing to the senses, it has great health benefits as an added bonus by increasing alertness and memory, cures a stomachache, and improves the body's ability to use blood sugar.
When I was a kid, we mixed it with sugar, put it in a shaker and sprinkled it on everything. My mother was a fantastic baker and used it on the crust when she crimped the edges <it made me eat the crust because it tasted so good>.
Some other uses include:
*Prevents stored potatoes from sprouting
*Kills mold in plant dirt
*Add to tea with honey and ginger to cure colds
*Apply to cuts before bandaging to heal faster
