Someone e-mailed this great idea which is waterproof and air tight: NO MORE TWIST TIES OR RUBBER BANDS.
Cut up a disposable water bottle and keep the neck and top.
Unscrew the cap and insert the plastic bag through the neck, fold it over the edges and screw the cap back on to seal.
Now, your bag has an air and water tight seal, and you didn't have to waste the bag.
