You might want to consider the fact that maybe … just maybe … your standards are too high. This sometimes is the stuck piece which prevents us from being able to delegate. Weigh your expectations versus what most people would expect; you might be able to eliminate a few steps in the process. In the grand scheme of life, does it really matter how “perfect” it is? Look at your long term goals and measure how much value doing it perfectly would bring and is it really worth the additional effort. I know for me, wisdom has taught me that my quality of life is more important than making sure everything I do is done with perfection as the only criteria.
I have to admit that once upon a time I was a perfectionist. I even found a mistake in the encyclopedia when I was seven. Maybe it was because I had unlimited energy when I was younger, but the need for perfection has dwindled as I have aged. Hopefully that has been because of wisdom rather than a lack of energy, but sometimes “good enough” is just fine. I will still always do my best given whatever the present circumstances are. Sometimes it just needs to get done, and if we always strive for perfection we will immobilize ourselves.
