It is widely known that stress creates dis-ease in our bodies. We are used to blaming outside causes, but in reality it comes from within due to our beliefs and misinterpretation of our reality. If we change our beliefs and re-frame our reality we can reduce stress. By doing this, we reduce the chances of going into flight or flight <stress response which increases adrenalin and cortisol production and directs blood away from our brain>. We need to stop living in fear and take control of our responses to perceived threats so that out body can get on with its job of healing itself. Remember: we are driven by pain or pleasure: we avoid pain and seek pleasure. Here are some coping strategies to alleviate stress in our lives:
Mind:
Learn to compartmentalize: be totally present without distractions
Seek balance in all things
Positive Outlook: see problems as opportunities
Set goals for 2011 and find an accountability partner … re-evaluate and adjust goals monthly
Determine what you can change and let go of what you can't change
Delegate
Learn to say no … don't be all things to all people … know your limitations
Know your stressors and have strategies to deal with them
Learn to re-frame stressors … look for the lesson
Have realistic expectations
Body:
Exercise … play sports … get fit
Practice deep breathing
Stretch like a cat daily
Get regular massage
Pamper yourself daily
Use essential oils
Healthy diet
Plenty of sleep
Drink water

Be proactive
