Whatever summer means to you, it is a time for shifting gears ... slowing down ... enjoying what is, right now. Think now what you want to "do" but more importantly, how to you want to "be" this summer. Spend some time planning your schedule now so you can relax and enjoy this time guilt-free. What do you want to accomplish this summer? What do you want to learn? Do you want to teach your kids something? Where do you want to go and who do you want to see? Will you be gardening or white water rafting or camping or playing tennis or golf? Relax some of your routines or delegate them.
If you have kids at home, you might find yourself juggling their activites: camps and sports and pool time. Add to the mix your vacations and family gatherings and work and down time. I suggest you figure out your overall priorities and decide up front what pace you want to set. You don't have to say "yes" to everything that presents itself. One of the greatest joys of summer is the feeling of having nothing at all to do ... which actually creates some space for your happiest memories.
So go with the flow more ... be spontaneous ... laugh ... watch fireflies flit about ... run under the sprinkler ... eat ice cream ... put some happy colors in your life.
