De-clutter first … organize second … measure third … buy last. There is no point in organizing what you don't use, need or love. I will go into more detail in later articles about specific tasks and routines, but for now this is what I would suggest. The easiest place to start is to go through your house with a trash bag and throw out the obvious things like trash and broken items. Then, go though the house with a box or basket and gather all the items that have a home elsewhere and put them in the place they belong. The next overall step is to sort and put like things together. You can now begin to see that having more than one of the same item is taking up valuable space. Decide which one you want to keep, and give the others away. Only after you have sorted through your possessions should you even consider buying "organizing devices" like cartons, baskets, bins and decorative storage items if things are to be left on display. I would suggest that you probably already have many things in your home that would serve that purpose as well. This process is all second nature to me, and while it might initially appear overwhelming to you, I really can make it fun and easy for you to do. EFT <Emotional Freedom Technique> is an acupressure technique to relieve stress and optimize your emotional health. It involves tapping on special acupuncture meridians with your fingertips while naming and tuning into a specific problem, and then using positive affirmations. It is important to focus deeply to get to the core of the issue <feelings, cravings, limiting beliefs, fears, past betrayal, grief, etc>.
Tapping is a fast and easy facilitator that distracts us into joy, since the universe hears our vibration and not our words. As an aside, a fun way to get to the vibration of “yes” is to write out a list of 10 questions where the answer is a resounding “YES” and then ask yourself the questions and answer LOUDLY “YES!” <ie: is your favorite color purple? Do you love cats? Do you enjoy a crisp fall day? Do you love walking on the beach? etc> . It is also helpful to say "I am" statements while tapping to further internalize the affirmation. I studied Gary Craig's method; further resources include Pat Carrington, Brad Yates and Carol Look, as well as numerous people on YouTube like David Childerley. All negative emotions are simply a disruption in the energy flow. EFT is a simpler and more self-empowering process than hypnosis or NLP. You don't pretend the problem is not there; there's no denial because what you resist, persists. The only disclaimer: you also need to take full responsibility for your own well-being for tapping <if you are emotionally unstable, don't tap unless you can deal with the emotions that come up>. Quick summary of the process: STEP 1: Choose a problem to work on. STEP 2: Rate your anxiety or discomfort. STEP 3: Perform the Set-Up STEP 4: TAP the stress-relief points<eyebrow, side of eye, under eye, under nose, chin, collarbone, under arm, head>. STEP 5: Rate your anxiety or stress again. STEP 6: Perform the Set-Up again. STEP 7: TAP the stress-relief POINTS again. STEP 8: Measure your anxiety or stress level on 0-10 scale. STEP 9: Repeat Steps #5-#9. Are you chronically tired? You get plenty of sleep, you meditate, you consider yourself aware and mindful but sometimes you still feel drained. Have you considered that it might not be your fault? Understanding how you react energetically in the world and being able to meet your own energy needs can help balance mind, body, and spirit and create peace. Knowledge is power, so please consider what I have to say.
My friends laugh at me because one of my favorite phrases is “bubble up”. For me, this creates an energy shield around me. It might sound a bit woo-woo, but I have been doing this for years and it works. It’s all about intention, so I structure my bubble so that it lets positive energy in but keeps negative energy out. I just visualize a protective shield of white or gold light surrounding every inch of me including under my feet, which is particularly efficient for vampires at family dinners or social events where you're trapped. Most people are oblivious to how their energy impacts others. Think of the people in your life and how you feel when you are around them. Pay attention to how good you feel when you are around vibrant people <who exude positive energy> and people who suck the life right out of you <energy vampires>. Once you realize this, you might even choose to limit contact with or eliminate them from your lives, which is extremely empowering. We tend to be more vulnerable when we are tired or sick, overly busy or stressed, not getting enough healthy food and exercise, or not getting our emotional or spiritual needs met. If you feel your energy being zapped, don't hesitate to politely excuse yourself. So many times we don’t want to appear rude so we sit and suffer in silence rather than just walk away. Be sure to move outside the range of their energy field, at least twenty feet from the person. Remember that there’s a difference between being a bitch and setting boundaries; it’s all about your attitude and coming from your heart. The need to protect yourself is everywhere, even when working in ceremony or sacred space, because you’re wide open and vulnerable to attack, whether intentionally or not. Another effective way I have found is grounding myself by meditating, breathing exercises and connecting with my center before going out in public. You can ask your higher self for "a positive and reciprocal energy between me and everyone I see today” or just pray to those that you believe in. You can use a small gemstone taped to your solar plexus to send the negative energy back to the sender and leave you alone, effectively stopping fear, anxiety or panic instantly. Black Tourmaline is probably the best, but other gemstones include jasper, agate and turquoise. A piece of black tourmaline in your pillowcase at night helps prevent nightmares <crested prickle poppy helps with nightmares too>. You can wear a necklace of one of these stones, or place one of them in your pocket. One of the funniest methods I heard of is using saran wrap consisting of three layers, one on top of the other, taped over your solar plexus. There are many types of energy vampires out there. We all know the drama queen, the whiner, the blamer, the victim, or the intentionally cruel person who cuts you down with criticism with no respect for your feelings. You can always try to re-direct the conversation and focus on positive topics. Since I am in a healing profession, I know that I need to guard against clients who want to be “fixed” and willingly hand over their power to me but who are not willing to take responsibility for changing themselves. When a two way flow of healthy energy with another person is impossible, you need to cut the cords and clear the energetic space between you. I can help you intentionally and deliberately cut the one directional energy cord with the people who are draining you of your joy with chakra balancing, so if you are interested in that please let me know. My advice is to just be aware of your own energy field, define and honor your personal boundaries and do what it takes to maintain your energetic vitality. This meditation is extremely relaxing for me. It is a Buddhist-based meditation for cultivating compassion and forgiveness, with many variations on the web but I like this version. Prepare for meditation as you prefer, then gently repeat the following softly out loud or in your mind:
1. May I be filled with loving kindness 2. May I be safe and well. 3. May I be happy and peaceful. 4. May my life be filled with ease. Then replace the “I”s with “you's, thinking of someone you love, then someone who is a challenge, then all beings Finish with a few slow, deep breaths, feeling compassion, love and kindness flowing through your body. Take a moment or two before moving on with the rest of your day. Take 5 minutes and do this daily. On the surface of the world right now there is

Cleanse crystals and stones as soon as you first get them because they carry energy from anyone who has touched them. Once they are cleansed, you might want to limit others from handling them. Your intention for their use determines how often they need to be cleansed after that. If you use them for healing, cleanse them before and after. If you use them for personal guidance and balance, you can do it weekly or monthly. After cleansing, rinse them in running water for a few minutes.

One day a farmer's donkey fell down into a well. The animal cried piteously for hours as the farmer tried to figure out what to do. Finally, he decided the animal was old, and the well needed to be covered up anyway; it just wasn't worth it to retrieve the donkey. He invited all his neighbors to come over and help him. They all grabbed a shovel and began to shovel dirt into the well. At first, the donkey realized what was happening and cried horribly. Then, to everyone's amazement he quieted down. A few shovel loads later, the farmer finally looked down the well. He was astonished at what he saw. With each shovel of dirt that hit his back, the donkey was doing something amazing. He would shake it off and take a step up. As the farmer's neighbors continued to shovel dirt on top of the animal, he would shake it off and take a step up. Pretty soon, everyone was amazed as the donkey stepped up over the edge of the well and happily trotted off! Life is going to shovel dirt on you, all kinds of dirt. The trick to getting out of the well is to shake it off and take a step up. Each of our troubles is a steppingstone. We can get out of the deepest wells just by not stopping, never giving up! Shake it off and take a step up. Remember the five simple rules to be happy: Free your heart from hatred - Forgive.. Free your mind from worries - Most never happen. Live simply and appreciate what you have.. Give more. Expect less NOW ... Enough of that ... The donkey later came back, and bit the farmer who had tried to bury him. The gash from the bite got infected and the farmer eventually died in agony from septic shock. MORAL FROM TODAY'S LESSON: When you do something wrong, and try to cover your ass, it always comes back to bite you.
