The Brown Mountain Lights are one of the most famous of North Carolina legends. They have been reported a dozen times in newspaper stories. They have been investigated at least twice by the U.S. Geological Survey. And they have attracted the attention of numerous scientists and historians since the German engineer, Gerard Will de Brahm, recorded the mysterious lights in the North Carolina mountains in 1771. Cherokee Indians were familiar with these lights as far back as the year 1200. According to Indian legend, a great battle was fought that year between the Cherokee and Catawba Indians near Brown Mountain. The Cherokees believed that the lights were the spirits of Indian maidens who went on searching through the centuries for their husbands and sweethearts who had died in the battle.
"The mountains emit nitrous vapors which are borne by the wind and when laden winds meet each other the niter inflames, sulphurates and deteriorates," said de Brahm. De Brahm was a scientific man and, of course, had a scientific explanation. But the early frontiersman believed that the lights were the spirits of Cherokee and Catawba warriors slain in an ancient battle on the mountainside. One thing is certain, the lights do exist. They have been seen from earliest times. They appear at irregular intervals over the top of Brown Mountain - a long, low mountain in the foothills of the Blue Ridge. They move erratically up and down, visible at a distance, but vanishing as one climbs the mountain. From the Wiseman's View on Linville Mountain the lights can be seen well. They at first appear to be about twice the size of a star as they come over Brown Mountain. Sometimes they have a reddish or blue cast. On dark nights they pop up so thick and fast it's impossible to count them. At some points closer to Brown Mountain the lights seem large, resembling balls of fire from a Roman candle. Sometimes they may rise to various heights and fade slowly. Others expand as they rise, then burst high in the air like an explosion without sound. There are innumerable stories of the lights. But perhaps the best description is that the lights are "a troop of candle-bearing ghosts who are destined to march forever back and forth across the mountain." Pasted from <http://www.ibiblio.org/ghosts/bmtn_p2.html> A group of 10 of us headed out to Wiseman's Bluff in Linville Gorge to see the Brown Mountain Lights. It was a beautiful fall day in the western NC mountains; the crisp mountain air sill had a bite to it, but the winds were minimal so we could enjoy the night in relative comfort. We brought food to share, and enjoyed each other's company in the hour and a half drive to the dirt and gravel road of our destination. We stopped to take in a gorgeous sunset lighting up one of the nearby ridges as the sliver of the moon provided a focal point. Each of us were inspired individually by the perfection of the moment. We were surprised by 5 other friends who changed their plans in order to meet up with us to share their night vision goggles. It is truly amazing when you look at the sky through the lenses … billions of stars light up the sky that the naked eye can't see. There's a general shimmer over the whole landscape, like a thin piece of silk light flowing in delightful randomness. The lights played peek a boo games with us as they dipped and flitted along the ridges, which could be seen with the naked eye. Additionally special were the lights that could only be seen through the goggles … closer to us than we thought. Some of the lights were triangulated, darting all over the sky like spacecraft and definitely not in ordinary flight patterns. Did we actually see aliens through the goggles? I didn't, but that's not to say they weren't there staring at us. Did I see comets, falling stars and stars that were at first stationary that later moved? Maybe … probably … I still don't know exactly what I saw; it's more a feeling than a rational thought. I felt a definite connection with the unknown; a feeling that there is so much more out there than we can't even conceive of … yet. There are no words to describe what I saw, but I do believe the answers will be revealed to us … soon. Take time now to write down your accomplishments so you can refer to it when you need a little encouragement. Try to feel the excitement of these achievements as you write about them to increase your vibration. Some things you might want to include:
"When you do the wrong thing, knowing it is wrong, you do so because you haven't developed the habit of effectively controlling or neutralizing strong inner urges that tempt you, or because you have established the wrong habits and don't know how to eliminate them effectively." -- W. Clement Stone
Our habits determine the direction of our lives. Our choices are determined by what we believe, think, say and do. Our subconscious controls 96% of our actions, so most of our habits are controlled by this part of our mind of which we are unaware. These habits were formed without our consent when we were very young, usually because of unresolved emotions or limiting beliefs. It makes sense that if we release the negative feelings we will no longer need the bad habit because we realize it doesn't serve us anymore. I would much rather allow my intuition to guide me rather than some automatic response I learned when I didn't know any better. Habits aren't all bad: where would we be if we had to think about brushing our teeth or driving our car? The ones that can hold us back are habits like being addicted to the computer, staying up late, not having routines, not being true to our word, not setting goals, procrastinating … the list is endless. You need to consider what areas of your life aren't working and then look at which habits are holding you back. First, figure out a way to drop your bad habits or limiting beliefs. There are many methods out there <some which I practice and am trained in>: EssenceWork, EFT, muscle testing and one brain defusion, NLP, just observing and releasing, asking your higher self for guidance, Soul Point, hypnosis, past life regression, etc. Find a method that works best for you. Once you have removed the bad habits, there is now room for new habits to take their place. Take one life area at a time <maybe a new habit a month or a quarter> and develop a plan that will help you integrate the new habit into your life. For example: healthy habits might include eating nutritious foods, exercising, and getting plenty of rest. Then use visualizations, affirmations, mind movies, routines, an accountability group, a life coach -- whatever works for you -- to make that new habit a reality. It will change your life and help you achieve your vision! I love this concept ... simplicity at it's best. http://www.smithmag.net/ Some examples:
Carpe diem-college motto, lifelong challenge Lost my way. Found it. Again. I leaped. No net. Flew Instead. Escaped terror, worked hard, found love. In times of stress, I regress. Planned for success. Prepared for detours. Off the top of my head, mine would be: intrepid gypsy … lessons learned … graceful surrender I would love to hear what yours would be!!! Please share ... Tell everyone you know about this. It would also be useful for any emergency, such as a heart attack, where you can't reach a phone. If the car alarm gets activated it will alert you to a potential problem. It's been around the internet many times but in case you missed it before:
Put your car keys beside your bed at night. If you hear a noise outside your home or someone trying to get in your house, just press the panic button for your car. The alarm will be set off, and the horn will continue to sound until either you turn it off or the car battery dies. This tip came from a neighborhood watch coordinator. Next time you come home for the night and you start to put your keys away, think of this: It's a security alarm system that you probably already have and requires no installation. Test it. It will go off from most everywhere inside your house and will keep honking until your battery runs down or until you reset it with the button on the key fob chain. It works if you park in your driveway or garage If your car alarm goes off when someone is trying to break into your house, odds are the burglar rapist won't stick around... After a few seconds all the neighbors will be looking out their windows to see who is out there and sure enough the criminal won't want that. And remember to carry your keys while walking to your car in a parking lot. The alarm can work the same way there ..... This is something that should really be shared with everyone. Maybe it could save a life or a sexual abuse crime. Think of one stressor … sit up, uncross your arms and legs, rest hands on thighs … eyes closed … relaxed … hold breath and at top of your breath let the stressor go … then breathe from your feet and come up your body … imagine floating high above yourself where nothing is stressful … notice that you live down below … then float toward the future where you have achieved success … look back and see that the stressor is gone … anchor in whatever positive thoughts you want while here in the future because anything is possible and they become resources for you … then go back towards now and bring the good things you anchored in with you … then go forward one year from now and look back on now and there is no worry, stress or fear
A belief is a thought that we keep returning to. Limiting beliefs block us from manifesting our desires because they are false and come from fear <which is an illusion>, worry and anxiety. We can tell we have a limiting belief by what's happening in our lives. The less we judge and resist, the more we are connected to intuition which guides us effortlessly from one synchronicity to another. Every time we hit a fear, we either shrink or we expand. The faster we remove our resistance, the faster our dreams come true. One of the biggest reasons people don't change is safety: we sabotage ourselves if we don’t feel safe. Another is guilt: if we feel guilty about something, we might subconsciously believe we should be punished. We are 95% controlled by subconscious programs gotten from other people which may negate what we consciously want out of life. When we rewrite our limiting beliefs by changing the old programming, our subconscious mind effortlessly responds to the repetition and new habits.
Fears can include future fears < live in the now in gratitude>, fear of failure <get out of your comfort zone>, fear of loss of approval or fear of rejection <learn to love yourself>, or fear of success or loss of control <take calculated risks>. Worry occurs in the past so we are not moving forward <use forgiveness>. Anxiety deals with the consequence of something that has not happened yet and we become restless and doubtful <use unconditional love>. Best questions to consider when dealing with these issues: The upside for staying the same is: _________________ The downside to reaching your goal is: ______________ Here are some recommendations to help mitigate seasonal allergies. All compromised lifestyle choices -- poor stress management, lack of sleep, poor nutrition, and exposure to toxins -- weaken our nervous and immune systems.
Even though it requires more effort on your part, please consider doing the following to help you improve your overall health without a number of "side" effects like dizziness and drowsiness that over the counter medications can create. Consider doing a juice fast, colonics, detox remedies, taking superfoods and super herbs and probiotics, avoiding all sources of MSG and artificial sweeteners, increasing your intake of Vitamin D, and increasing your water intake to flush out the toxins. You might also consider using acupressure: in general, you should feel around for a tender spot in each of the regions described below. You should apply enough pressure to feel a mild, dull, achy pain. If you have varicose veins, do not massage any of your muscle groups without first consulting with your family doctor. It is best to massage each point on both sides of your body. If you are not sure about the location of each of the points listed above, use the following book as a reference: Acupressure's Potent Points: a Guide to Self-Care for Common Ailments. Apply deep massage to the following acupressure points for a few minutes, two times a day: Spleen 10 (SP-10): located in a tender region of the inner side of the thigh, approximately three finger widths above the upper and inner border/corner of the knee cap. Spleen 6 (SP-6): located approximately three finge widths above the inner ankle bone, in a tender region of the lower calf muscle. Large Intestine 4 (LI-4): located in the soft, fleshy web that sits between your thumb and forefinger. Liver 3 (LR-3): located in the soft flesh that sits between your big and 2nd toes, the equivalent of LI-4 on your foot. Dr. Hew Len is a psychologist in Hawaii who cured a complete ward of criminally insane patients and never saw any of them. He would study an inmate's chart and then look within himself to see how he created that person's illness. As he improved himself, the patient improved. He used a Hawaiian healing process called ho'oponopono, which means loving yourself.
Dr. Len explained that total responsibility for your life means that whatever is in your life is your responsibility – the entire world is your creation. This is tough to understand because blame is far easier than accepting responsibility. The basic premise is: loving yourself is the greatest way to improve yourself, and as you improve yourself, you improve your world. The process is: Say "I'm sorry" and "Please forgive me." You say this to acknowledge that something - without you knowing what it is - has gotten into your body/mind system. You have no idea how it got there. You don't need to know, either. You're not asking the Divine to forgive you; you're asking the Divine to help you forgive yourself. What happens next is up to the Divine. You may be inspired to take action of some sort. Whatever it is, do it. If you aren't sure about the action to take, use this same healing method on your confusion. When you are clear, you'll know what to do. Then say "I love you" and "Thank you." The "I love you" transmutes the energy from stuck to flowing. It reconnects you to the Divine. Since the zero state is one of pure love, and has zero limits, you are beginning to get to that state by expressing love. When you follow that statement with "Thank you," you are expressing gratitude. You are showing your faith that the issue will be resolved for the highest good of all concerned.
